Swimmer’s comment
It was an absolute delight to be given the opportunity to complete another part of the Ocean Seven swimming challenge, previously I attempted the swim twice before with no luck. Thanks to the tenacity of myself, the support of my parents and close friends, as well as the skill and abilities of the TSSF organization I was able to complete the swim successfully in a great time with minimal difficulty. The presentation of the gifts when we arrived back at Kodomari port was amazing too as usually there is no welcoming party at the end of a swim so it was very surprising and welcoming of the TSSF to have such a presentation. I also congratulate Josef and Jaime for finishing the swim as well on the same day in tough conditions!
I now have one swim in the Ocean Seven left which I hope to finish before the end of the year. I wish good luck to any in the future who are looking to complete this swim.

Observer’s comment
At our preliminary meeting, where I met Michael for the first time, he appeared very relaxed and gave the impression of being well accustomed to the preparations involved.
The atmosphere was calm when we departed on the day of the swim, and he even had a smile on his face as he entered the water. He seemed to be in good condition and ready for the challenge ahead.
During the swim, there were long stretches of challenging sea conditions, with high waves and a considerable swell. Despite this, Michael maintained a strong and consistent stroke rate throughout, steadily making his way towards the finish.
Even immediately after completing the crossing, he seemed to have plenty of energy left. When making his way back to the boat under his own power, he even showed off his backstroke. His energy and endurance all the way to the finish was so impressive.
I feel so privileged to have been able to witness the swim firsthand. What particularly stood out to me was the support and investment Michael’s family showed throughout the whole process. It made me think that with the family support anything is possible.
Michael and the team, congratulations on your successful crossing of the Tsugaru Strait!
