Observer’s comment
At the briefing, I was struck by how united Karen’s team seemed, with everyone wearing their team uniforms. It gave me a strong sense of their team spirit and the close bond they shared.
Although Karen appeared slightly apprehensive at the time of departure, I was impressed by how seriously she and her team prepared for the swim. The sea conditions were relatively calm throughout the crossing, and Karen maintained a steady pace from start to finish, swimming calmly and consistently.
When she successfully completed the crossing, she was visibly shaking from exhaustion, but it was clear how much the achievement meant to her after swimming all the way to the finish.
I was truly relieved and delighted to witness Karen finish safely and see her successfully complete this incredible challenge.
Karen, congratulations on successfully completing the Tsugaru Strait crossing and becoming the FIRST BRITISH WOMAN to complete the Oceans Seven!
